Swansea University shortlisted for six Whatuni Awards, including University of the Year

Swansea University has been shortlisted in the University of the Year category in this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards once again this year, as well as in five other categories.

Whatuni 2018Now in their fifth year, the Whatuni awards are based on averages taken from tens of thousands of reviews submitted by students and published on Whatuni.com. The awards provide prospective students with an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems.

Swansea University has been shortlisted in the University of the Year category every year since the awards were established, and scooped the title in 2014.

Forty-three institutions have been nominated across twelve categories this year, recognised by their students for offering an incredible university experience.

Swansea University is shortlisted in the following categories:

• University of the Year

• Clubs & Societies

• Course & Lecturers

• Giving Back

• International

• Postgraduate

Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott, senior pro-vice-chancellor, welcomed the news: “We’re delighted that Swansea University has been shortlisted in the University of the Year category for the fifth consecutive year, having claimed the title once before.

“Being shortlisted in these six categories on the strength of our students’ responses is a resounding endorsement. The fact that we’ve been shortlisted for University of the Year, Clubs & Societies, and Courses & Lecturers reflects our focus on creating an inspiring learning experience, providing teaching excellence, and delivering an all-round university experience that all of our students can enjoy.

“We’re grateful to the students who provided such positive reviews, and to the staff who work so hard to ensure that the overall student experience here at Swansea is outstanding”.

Eleni Cashell, editor of Whatuni, said: “Being nominated for an award is a huge achievement, because the only judges at the WUSCAs are the students themselves. It showcases to both prospective students and the higher education sector that your institution offers value for money, provides a good student experience and has a highly satisfied and supported student community".

Winners are to be announced at the annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards ceremony on 19 April 2018, presented by stand-up comedian, Katherine Ryan.
