Swansea University’s new Computational Foundry was proud to sponsor this year’s ACM Mobile HCI Conference along with Google and Microsoft.

The international event draws together an audience of academics and industry from around the world, and provides a platform to showcase and debate latest research in mobile devices and services for nearly two decades.

The Mobile HCI 2017 Conference, held this year in Vienna, had over 220 attendees from 17 countries, with 29% from industry including Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Yahoo, IBM, Vodafone, LG, HTC, Samsung and BMW.

Professor Matt Jones, PI of the Computational Foundry, was one of the Chairs of the conference, and members of the FitLab in Swansea University’s Department of Computer Science also chaired sessions and presented emerging mobile technology that the lab is currently working on.

As a sponsor, The Computational Foundry also had a stand through which relationships were established with industry frontrunners including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, LG and HTC, and leading academics to visit Swansea University through CHERISH-DE International Mobility programme.

The new £31 million Computational Foundry facility is set to drive research into computational and mathematical sciences and make Wales a global destination for computational scientists and industrial partners.  It is due for occupation in September 2018.
