Members of the public are invited to an event showcasing the best of Swansea University students’ ingenuity as the S16 Formula Student race car is unveiled at the University’s Bay Campus this Friday.

The Swansea University Race Engineering (SURE) team’s launch event of the S16 Formula Student race car will take place on 29 April at the University’s School of Management.

SURE is Swansea University’s Formula Student society, a testing ground for Swansea University’s future world-class engineers, allowing students to design and build a single-seat racing car to compete against other universities in Europe and around the world.

The launch event has been jointly organised between the University’s School of Management and College of Engineering and will demonstrate how SURE has worked together with students from the University’s School of Management Final Year Project group exploring ways of boosting SURE’s marketing and public relations strategies and increasing internal and external engagement.

Swansea University Mechanical Engineering Master’s student, Ben Brown, SURE’s Head of PR for 2016 said: “SURE compete in Formula Student events across Europe and have been working alongside academic and industrial partners in order to create the most successful race car possible.

“The S16 Formula Student race car brings together the best of innovation, utilising the world-class facilities at Swansea University’s College of Engineering to ensure maximum performance in competitive scenarios.

“We are really pleased this year to have worked alongside the School of Management Final Year Project team in creating a brand new website for SURE and raising our profile on social media.”

Professor Steve Brown, Head of the College of Engineering said: “SURE is a prime example of how, through utilising our cutting edge facilities and working closely with industry specialists, our students can turn their ideas into reality, with fantastic results.  It also demonstrates how the co-location of the School of Management and the College of Engineering at the Bay Campus is mutually benefitting our students.

“We are very proud of the SURE team’s continuous innovation and enthusiasm and we look forward to the best performance yet from our brand new S16 Formula Student Race Car.”

The Swansea University Race Engineering (SURE) team’s launch event of the S16 Formula Student race car will take place on 29 April at 4pm at the School of Management’s Business School Atrium, Swansea University Bay Campus.  A buffet will be served and a bar (provided by Swansea University Students’ Union) will be available.  All are welcome but tickets should be reserved here as spaces are limited.
