President's Invitation Lecture 2015

Dr Natasha de Vere

Thursday 19th November 2015 at 7pm

Faraday Lecture Theatre, Swansea University Singleton Campus, Swansea

Dr Natasha de Vere is Head of Science at the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Senior Lecturer in Botany at the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences at Aberystwyth University.

She is the lead scientist in the research project to identify and barcode the DNA of every flowering plant in Wales.

Natasha is passionate to explain the science in ways that everyone can understand. One way she does this is to work with artists to produce visual interpretations of her work and and its results.

Natasha will give a public lecture in Swansea on 19th November to explain the Barcode Wales project, how the work is being used and how art can help us all to understand what scientists are doing.

This event is organised by The Royal Institution of South Wales (Friends of Swansea Museum) in association with Swansea University.
