Waldo: Cofiant Waldo Williams 1904 – 1971, a new volume published by Professor Alan Llwyd, Professor in Welsh in Academi Hywel Teifi, reveals previously unpublished poems by Waldo Williams, one of the leading Welsh language poets of the twentieth century.

AlanLlwyd‌‌By combining his original research with invaluable materials received from family members of Waldo, his nephew David Williams, more than anyone, Professor Llwyd (left) casts new light on the life and work of Waldo.

‌In addition, undiscovered poems by Waldo are presented and discussed in this volume. These new poems were discovered by Professor Llwyd and Robert Rhys, a Reader in Welsh in Academi Hywel Teifi, as they worked together on the book Waldo: Cerddi 1922 -1970.

‌‌Professor Llwyd, said: “Writing this memoir was a big adventure for me”. ‌

Waldo Williams‌‌“I feel I have come to know Waldo and his family incredibly well during the research and writing period.

“It was exhilarating to discover new facts about his life and the thrill was finding his 'new' work, poems that had never seen the light of day before, and shedding new light on his most famous poems.

“I hope that this memoir has managed to convey all the grandeur and all the versatility of his personality, and that it will be instrumental to open new talks on Waldo and his work”.
