The Herschel Space Observatory was launched in May 2009 and observed the Universe until April 2013. 

Despite the operational phase of the mission being over this is just the beginning with the analysis of the date still ongoing and results still flowing out at an impressive rate. Dr North will outline the mission and a few of its science highlights so far.

The Dolen Lecture is an annual lecture, organised by the South Wales Branch of the British Science Association, with the aim of promoting the link between science and scientists, and the public.
