GwyddonLe 2012 Highlights

Swansea University will again stage GwyddonLe at this year’s Urdd Eisteddfod between 4-9 June 2012.

Iolo Williams, the naturalist will officially open GwyddonLe next Monday morning, 4 June at 11am.

Iolo Williams will then participate in a question and answer session with former Swansea University student and television presenter, Nia Parry at 11.15am.

Former professional footballer, Malcolm Allen will visit GwyddonLe on Thursday, 7 June at 12.30pm especially to award the national mathematics competition.

An exhibition of Bloodhound, the supersonic car which hopes to break the world record for land speed and reach 1,000 miles per hour during 2013 will be at GwyddonLe.

Researchers from Swansea University’s College of Engineering have contributed towards its aerodynamic design and a video explaining its creation will be shown all week.

Another highlight will be a film premier of ‘Glimpse of Greenland’ through the medium of Welsh on Friday, 8 June at 3pm. The film follows glaciologists from Swansea University on their expedition to find out why Greenland's ice is changing.

GwyddonLe, which is open daily from 10am until 4pm, promises to offer an attractive science experience to visitors through the medium of Welsh throughout the Urdd Eisteddfod week.
