The Geologists’ Association South Wales Group is to hold the Douglas Bassett Memorial Lecture at Swansea University.

Title: Adam to Douglas: A Geohistorical Journey through North Wales

Speaker: Professor Michael Bassett of the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff

The Douglas Bassett Memorial lecture is held in memory of Douglas Bassett who died in November 2009 and was a former Director of the National Museum of Wales and Keeper of Geology. 

He was one of the founder members of the Geologists' Association South Wales Group, which is now in its 54th session and was well known across South Wales for his ability to interest and enthuse the public about geology. 

The speaker, Michael Bassett, also a former Keeper of Geology at the National Museum, will talk about the important role of North Wales in the development of geology.

The Geologists' Association South Wales Group holds talks, field meetings and other activities aimed at anyone who has an interest in the Earth and its history.  Membership is open to all in the South Wales area but non-members are welcome to attend events.
