The new 360 beach front watersport centre opened its doors at the weekend. The centre offers ‘Give It a Go’ taster sessions for both children and adults in a variety of sports and activities including beach volleyball, football and rugby; kayaking; stand up paddle boarding and power kiting.
The centre was really busy with all the sessions snapped up within minutes of opening. Visitors commented that the facility and the activities on offer was just what the Bay needed.
Nic, who had been lucky in getting on a paddle boarding session said: " A fantastic experience, very relaxing, a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning".
360’s normal operating times will be from 9am – 9pm 364 days a year hosting coaching in a variety of sports including more advanced sessions in sports such as kite surfing whilst providing an essential amenity, including showers and lockers, for independent users of the beach and water.
At the heart of the new facility there is a fully-licensed cafe bar which will provide participants and the wider community with a range of food and beverages in this unique location.
The brand new facility, operated in partnership by Swansea University and Bay Leisure, will significantly enhance the bay and assist the area to realise its potential as a world class destination for beach and water based sport.
The operating vision of 360 is to improve accessibility and inclusivity through sport and the opening weekend showcased all of the activities available at the Centre and allowed everyone to try brand new sports and experiences.
The £1.4m construction of the centre has been managed by Swansea Council and is backed by the Welsh Government through the European Regional Development Fund, Visit Wales and the Regeneration Area programme.
