Applications for the scholarship, worth £3,000, are invited from individuals wishing to study a Welsh-medium postgraduate research programme at Swansea University in an eligible programme.

The Hywel Teifi Memorial Scholarship aims to support Welsh-medium postgraduate students who wish to study a field relating to the contribution of the late Professor Hywel Teifi Edwards to Welsh learning and culture - specifically in the fields of: 

  • The Welsh language
  • Welsh history
  • Welsh literature
  • Politics in Wales
  • Media in Wales
  • Drama in Wales
  • Religion in Wales
  • Welsh cultural studies

Explore the research programmes offered at Swansea University.

The successful candidate will be awarded at an event during the National Eisteddfod week in 2021.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold an offer to study on a postgraduate research programme at Swansea University in academic year 2021/22.

The successful candidate is required to successfully complete their study through the medium of Welsh.

Funding

This scholarship awards £3,000 and the successful candidate will receive the full amount upon enrolment.
