Heidi has been the Manager of the College of Arts and Humanities since September 2013 and has brought a wealth of knowledge to the role based on her previous experience working at the forefront of the commercial recruitment sector with over 20 years business experience in both multinational PLC’s and AIM listed boutique businesses.
From 2000, she was a member of the operating board of Hays Human Resources, a market leading HR recruitment business and part of Hays PLC. In 2006, she was promoted to lead the board as National Director and as such was responsible for developing and implementing the strategic and operational direction of the business through 7 direct operational reports, including working alongside the Head of HR, Marketing and Finance.
Preceding this, Heidi had various roles in Hays as her career moved forward including 18 months as Country Director in the Czech Republic.
Prior to Hays PLC, Heidi worked in the Accountancy profession, initially with a small local firm, and then completed a 3 year training contract with Touché Ross, Swansea and passed the ACCA final examinations whilst studying day release at WGIHE.
This all round experience means Heidi not only has strong managerial skills but has a solid grounding with regard to all aspects of Financial Management and strategic planning, which she is using in her role both at a College and at a broader University level.
In 2013, Heidi’s 10 year old son needed open heart Surgery and she decided to take some time out from her career to look after him. She soon realised she didn’t want to travel the UK all week and wanted to work back in Swansea, where she had always been based as couldn’t bear to tear herself away from family, friends and “a great place to live”. The role in Swansea has given her the challenge and career she still craved but with the work life balance which is so important.
