Making Waves campaignThe Guide also showed that Swansea performs well above the average for graduate job prospects.

In the overall ranking, Swansea moved up to 57th out of 116 UK universities, continuing the upward trend of the past few years.

The result comes after The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014 showed that Swansea moved into the top 50 in the UK.

An international survey showed that Swansea had also moved up amongst the top 500 universities in the world - which puts it in the top 5% of all universities globally.

Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott, Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor, said:

“I’m pleased to see that the Guide lists us amongst the leading universities on such a wide range of subjects, from maths and engineering to sports science and social work.

We’ve also done well across all subjects for graduate job prospects, a crucial measure for today’s students.    This is thanks to the support we give students to help them get good degrees and good jobs, from work placements with local organisations, to voluntary work opportunities with our Discovery team, who have just won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

“We’ve also achieved a top five-star rating for our teaching in the QS Awards, and won the Times Higher Education award for Outstanding Student Services team in the UK”

“The Guardian Guide therefore provides further evidence that Swansea University is on the way up”.
