Call for Research Projects

The EPSRC Mathematical Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) 2021-22 is part of the EPSRC Additional Funding Programme for Mathematical Sciences that was announced by the Government in January 2020. This training grant will fund the equivalent of three fully-funded four-year PhD scholarships in Mathematical Sciences with start in October 2021.

We invite submission of proposals from academic staff for PhD research projects to be either fully-funded or match-funded by the EPSRC Mathematical Sciences DTP 2021/22. Projects can be in any area of Mathematical Sciences with relevance to the EPSRC remit, and the call is open to all academic staff at Swansea University. For research projects co-developed with a collaborative partner(s), a supporting letter from the collaborative partner(s) is required. We especially encourage submission of projects by Early Career Researchers.

The call is project-driven. Proposed supervisors should not contact at this stage potential candidate students, and the selection of the projects to be funded will be based upon the following criteria:

  1. Strategic value of project and (if applicable) research collaboration and/or industrial partnership
  2. Excellence of the research proposal.

The selected research projects will be advertised both on the webpage of Swansea University and on external platforms. It is anticipated that projects will be advertised by the end of June, the deadline for students applying for these projects will be 1 August, and interviews for short-listed applicants will take place in early August.

For any queries please contact Prof Eugene Lytvynov

To submit a project proposal, please fill in the attached form and send it to Prof Eugene Lytvynov. The deadline for submission of projects is Friday, 18 June 2021.
