Title: Analysis and Numerics of Stochastic Partial Differential Equations

Project description: 

This PhD project will investigate qualitative and/or quantitative properties of stochastic partial differential equations — a rapidly developing research topic with diverse applications. The project may focus on one type of parabolic equations (such as stochastic heat equations, or stochastic conservation laws, or stochastic Burgers equations) driven by Brownian motion, or by alpha-stable processes, or by point processes (Poisson and beyond).  Depending on the candidate’s background and interests, the research can be probabilistic, or analytic, or computational. The project is suitable for a student who has a solid foundation in probability theory and functional analysis, with a moderate knowledge of partial differential equations.

For candidates whose first language is not English, we require IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 in each component) or equivalent. Please visit our website for a list of acceptable English language tests.  We prefer candidates to have already met the English Language requirements at the point of application, although this is not a requirement.


This is a four-year fully-funded EPSRC scholarship, which covers UK tuition fees and an annual stipend of £15,245. Research Training Support Grant of £1,000 per annum is also provided.
