At Swansea we are committed to offering our students a contemporary and practice oriented student experience. To this end, each term we invite leading practitioners and industry experts to share their expertise with our students.
Guest lectures are often held on Wednesday afternoons and are co-ordinated by Dr George Leloudas. During the first term of 2015-16 academic year, we attracted a record number of guest speakers who delivered interesting lectures in a wide range of subjects. This year’s LLM cohort showed a great interest to the guest lecture series. Our students find the guest lecture series to be rewarding both in terms of contents and also in terms of providing them a great opportunity to meet experts in the fields they are studying. The following guests delivered lectures to our students in the first term:
Dr. Christoph Schaefer, Senior Legal Counsel, Lufthansa Cargo, “Overview of the Regulatory Framework of Aviation”.
Ms Jenny Tetlow, Trainer at RAP International Ltd, “An introduction to risk assessment and mitigation in the oil and gas industry”.
Mr Nicholas de Figueiredo, Solicitor at Capital Law LLP, “E-commerce, compliance and IP: protecting yourself and your brand when trading online”.
Mr David Hertzell, Former Law Commissioner for Commercial and Common Law, “The Insurance Act 2015”
Mr Michael Powell, Key Supplier Manager, Graig Shipping Plc, “INCOTERMS”
Mr Fabien Lerede, Off-shore Syndicate Claims Director, Charles Taylor, London: “P&I Clubs”
Dr Leloudas indicates that arrangements are in place to bring another 5-6 speakers to Swansea in the second term.
