This is the tenth International Colloquium organised by the Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law at the College of Law, Swansea University, to be held on 3-4 September 2014; on this occasion the leitmotiv will be shipbuilding, ship sale and ship finance.
There will be on offer detailed and critical analyses of shipbuilding and ship sale contracts, standard and otherwise, concentrating on their construction, pitfalls and dangers, not to mention vital issues such as payment and refund guarantees. Added to this there will be sessions embodying a holistic approach to the legal and practical issues surrounding ship finance, whether in the form of ship mortgages or other derivatives (not forgetting demise charters). As in all Swansea colloquiums, discussion will cover national, international, and EU legal dimensions, and will in each case be led by panels of carefully-selected professional and academic experts.
