Mooting Competitions - 2019/20 Academic Year
In 2019/20, the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law entered twelve external competitions, with the following students representing the Law School:
- Oxford University Press Moot- Lawrence Thomas and Dora Velenczei
- English Speakers Union Moot– Rhys Allen and Rhiannon Smith
- Landmark Chambers Property Moot– Rohan Ghosal and Zachariah Rooth
- BPP Advocate of the Year– Louis Elliott, Gareth Horrocks, Jack Carlton and Christopher Buffin
- Surrey University Mock Trial Competition– Taliesyn Kallstrom and Tristan Bruce
- Client Interviewing Competition– Nicole Johnston and Alice Hinett
- Negotiation Competition– Dora Velenczei and Justine Mears, Caryl Thomas and Meryl Hanmer
- Sports Law Negotiations Competition – Dominic Gray and Hope Young, George Gordsziejewicz and Shehbaz Dosanjh
- Maynooth Negotiations Competition – Justine Mears and Shehbaz Dosanjh
- Mediation Competition– Hope Young, Taliesyn Kallstrom and Nilasha Raha
- Medical Law Mooting Competition– Mari Watkins and Laurence Cooper
- Southampton Inns of Court Moot – Jack Carlton and Kelly Barlow, Millie Smith and Louis Elliott
Notable Achievements
The following were particularly notable achievements over the course of the year:
- Mariand Laurence qualified for the semi-finals of the Medical Law Mooting Competition
- Gareth Horrocksqualified for the National Stage of the BPP Advocate of the Year Competition
- Hope, Taliesyn, and Nilashafinished sixth in the National Mediation Competition
- Taliesyn Kallstrom finished 13th out of 45 in the National Mediation Competition individual rankings
- Caryland Meryl qualified for the National Negotiation Competition, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Notable Achievements
The following were particularly notable achievements over the course of the year:
- Hannah and Varaidzo qualified for the quarter finals of the Landmark Chambers Property Moot
- The Advocate of the Year team won the South West and Wales Regional Competition
- Caryl Thomas qualified for the National Stage of the BPP Advocate of the Year Competition
- Caryl, Rhys, Chris and Louis won the Surrey University Mock Trial Competition
- Yusuf, Josh and Cal finished fourth in the National Mediation Competition
- Rohan was awarded Top Individual Debater in the Medical Law Debating Competition
- Caryl and Meryl won the Client Interviewing Competition South-West Regional, and finished fourth at the National Competition
