IISTL Student, Andreas Siniväli, collects prize at winter graduation ceremony

The Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law (IISTL) introduced a prize a decade ago with the intention of encouraging Swansea LLM students to produce a research output of highest quality. The Prize is open to any LLM Student writing their projects in the realm of international shipping and trade law.

The winner of the Prize in 2018 was Andreas Siniväli who originally hails from Estonia. Andreas completed his LLM in International Maritime Law in 2017 at Swansea University. Prior to coming to Swansea, Andreas studied Law in Estonia at the University of Tartu. The Prize was presented to Andreas during the LLM Graduation reception by the Director of the IISTL, Professor Barış Soyer.

Commenting on Andreas’ success, Professor Soyer said:

“Andreas had a brilliant year with us at Swansea. He is a committed individual and has already had several internships in various organisations in London. I have no doubt that he will be a great asset for the maritime community in whatever he decides to do next. We wish him all the best in his professional life. The IISTL is committed to enhancing scholarships in the field of shipping and trade law and we hope that this Prize serves this purpose by encouraging young talents to produce higher quality research outputs during their LLM studies.”
