Swansea University is a research-led institution that thrives on exploration and discovery. We offer a compelling balance of excellent teaching and research, matched by an enviable quality of life on our two beachfront campuses. Having celebrated our centenary year in 2020, we are extremely proud of how our University has contributed to the transformation of Swansea as a city of distinction, since 1920. With more than 20,000 students, we have enjoyed a period of tremendous growth, which has been matched by the highest standards of student experience.

As a result of a major transformation of our Professional Services, we are now looking to appoint to a newly created role of a Director of Strategic Faculty Operations.

As the most senior Professional Services officer in the Faculty, you will report to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer and work in partnership with the PVC/Executive Dean, Deputy PVC/Executive Dean and Faculty Leadership Team in developing the Faculty’s strategy and business plan to achieve the University’s objectives. You will ensure that the ambitions of the Faculty are clearly defined and realistic, and that its academic strategy and operations are aligned. You will be the chief ‘client’ within the Faculty and play a critical role in monitoring the quality of service delivery, ensuring high standards of customer service are met. You will work with the Directors of Professional Services to ensure that the necessary services are provided to deliver the Faculty strategy.

This is an exciting time to join Swansea University as we are embarking on to the next stage in our journey and we are seeking an exceptional and inspiring leader. This is a strategically critical role, and you will have proven experience in a senior leadership role within a large and complex organisation with a focus on delivering high standards of customer service. You will have strong financial and commercial acumen, proven experience of strategy and business planning, and a track record of leading major change programmes, including culture change. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will have proven ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences and influence a wide range of stakeholders. While prior experience of working in a university is not essential, an understanding of the major issues facing the UK HE sector would be highly desirable.
