Swansea University’s College of Human and Health Sciences has welcomed a group of visiting students and academics from the Thailand’s Khon Kaen University (KKU).
The group, who are part of KKU’s Faculty of Public Health, discussed collaborations in research, meeting with Dr David Rea and Professor David Hughes from the College’s Department of Public Health, Policy and Social Sciences. They were also treated to a tour of the University’s Singleton Park Campus by PhD student, Soraya Chaleoijit from Thailand.
Professor David Hughes (pictured, left, with some of the group) said: “KKU is the largest public university in North Eastern Thailand, and an active centre for health research in this relatively disadvantaged rural area. The Faculty of Public Health is seeking to improve its links with Swansea, building on a six month visit made by a research officer and two doctoral students in 2013.
“Although individual staff members have travelled in both directions in the past, this is the largest group from the faculty to come to our University. Dr Chanya, the party leader, expressed interest in exploring areas for research collaboration and short placements for doctoral students.”
