Psychology beauty bathes in beans for the Eve Appeal

Swansea University Psychology student, Hayley Wood, has been busy hosting a number of fundraising events as she prepares for the final of the 2014 Miss Devon competition.

Hayley will be appearing at the final of the 2014 Miss Devon competition in Torquay on April 19, but in preparation for this, she has been raising money for her chosen charity, the Eve Appeal.

She held an event on Saturday, 29th of March, in her local pub, The Salterton Arms, in Devon. She said, “I had a baked beans bath on Saturday and then held a 'pink night' in my local pub where everyone wore pink, and there was a raffle and karaoke. I am thrilled that I managed to raise £1,105 in total from Saturday’s events!”

Hayley was contacted by the organisers of Miss Devon at the end of January.

“I was in two minds about entering the Miss Devon competition considering it was my final term of university studying Psychology and I had two dissertations to write as well as other assignments and exams. I decided to go ahead and have been very busy these past few months preparing for the final which is on April 19th, managing my university work and fundraising for the Eve Appeal.”

Hayley had to attend a boot camp in Torquay for the day, where she had a photo shoot and pageant training. She has been busy preparing for the five rounds of the 2014 Miss Devon competition, which include a talent contest, a photo shoot, and eco, fitness and charity rounds. If successful, she could qualify for the finals of Miss England.

“It has been very exhausting completing different rounds in the lead up to the final and completing all of my university work; however I have managed it well and had a lot of fun at the same time.”

Whilst organising these events, Hayley received the first class mark of 80% for her dissertation on MDMA.
