Andrea Surridge, Senior Tutor and Pathway Leader for the District Nursing Programme at the College of Human and Health Sciences, Swansea University, has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).
The title is not an award for past service, but indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking and other opportunities, and a shared professional identity.
Andrea was one of sixty two nurses nationwide who were given the title at the charity’s Awards Ceremony, held at the Commonwealth Club in London on the 12th November 2012.
QNI Director Crystal Oldman said, ‘congratulations are due to Andrea for her success. Community nurses operate in an ever more challenging world and our role is to support them as effectively as we can. The QN title is a key part of this and we would encourage other committed community nurses to apply.’
