Swansea University continues its success story by climbing into the top 40 while the College of Human and Health Sciences also achieves some notable successes in the Guardian University League Tables for 2017.
The Guardian University League Tables which rank UK Universities, were published this week and confirm that Swansea University is a rising star, having improved its overall ranking over the past year from 52nd to 39th – which is the largest jump by a university in Wales. The new ranking also indicates a remarkable performance by the University which has jumped 45 places in just 6 years, (from 94th in 2012 to 39th in 2017).
The College of Human and Health Sciences have some subjects scoring at the highest levels, with Social Policy ranking second (up ten places), Social Work twelfth and Nursing and Midwifery fourteenth (up seventeen places).
Amongst some of the most notable results for the University are for teaching (up 45 places to 15thplace), overall course satisfaction (up 28 places to 7th place) and career prospects, which is at 14th place.
This new ranking is the latest accolade that the University has received in recent months. It kicked off 2016 by appearing in the global top 200 in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) world ranking of the ‘most international universities’, in January. In March, Engineering disciplines were ranked among the world's elite by higher education data specialists QS in the World University Rankings 2016. Just a month later in April, the University won 2016 WhatUni Award for Best Courses and Lecturers, and in the same month it also featured in the top 50 in of the Complete University Guide.
Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott, Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Swansea University said: “With the publication of the Guardian University League Tables, Swansea University is again in the company of the UK’s elite institutions.
