Following a successful launch event in October, the initial round of Swansea University's College of Human and Health Sciences Work Shadowing Scheme is now in progress.
Three shadow and host pairs with a diverse range of expertise in executive management, academic research, and technical services will begin their experience shortly; having discussed the opportunities available and the skills to be acquired.
The scheme, designed to be as flexible as possible in the duration of the process and frequency of contact, aims to facilitate career progression by providing staff with an insight into their ideal roles.
One of the current cohort, Jo Rees; a Senior Lecturer in Public Health, Policy and Social Sciences, is set to shadow Head of College, Ceri Phillips.
Jo commented “The Work Shadowing Scheme provides a great opportunity for staff interested in professional self-development. I am very much looking forward to gaining an insight into Ceri’s responsibilities in order to understand more about his role.”
Members of staff from the College of Human and Health Sciences who are interested in taking part can apply in the next round of applications. These will be considered during the interim PDR period (1st March-31st May).
