The number and variety of roles is extensive.   Recent graduates now work locally as ward managers, staff nurses and as community nurses. There are also opportunities to work abroad. We are fortunate to have the full support of a large number of healthcare providers and are able to offer a wide range of clinical experiences to our adult nursing students within South West Wales.

Adult nursing students are able to experience care delivery in the NHS and the independent sector within the hospital environment and community setting.

Students will rotate through different clinical specialities to ensure they have exposure to various aspects of adult nursing and, in year three for the management placement they will have a choice of clinical areas to support their individual learning. Find out more about our rural placement opportunities here.

Children’s ward placements will include placements in the two district general hospitals in Swansea or in the west Wales hospitals of Carmarthen, Withybush or Aberystwyth and east Wales Princess of Wales Hospital (Bridgend). These will include general medical and surgical wards as well as other specialist areas including orthopaedics, burns and plastics, neurology and care of the neonate.
