Jordan Gould BMid Midwifery

What did you enjoy the most about studying at Swansea University?

I love the location of Swansea University as well as its proximity to the main teaching hospital in the area.

What skills did you learn from completing the course and how did they help you get a job?

In midwifery you learn all the basic theory behind the role, basic clinical skills and knowledge that you put into practice under close supervision of mentors in clinical areas that provides you with all the basic necessary skills to undertake employment as a midwife.

What have you gone on to do after graduating?

I have worked as a newly qualified midwife since graduation in September 2014, first of all at Singleton Hospital, Swansea and I commence post at Royal Glamorgan in the same role in September (2015).

Where are you currently working?

Singleton Hospital, Swansea. It was nice to be in such a familiar area as a NQ midwife as I’d done so much of my training in Singleton; I felt part of the team very quickly and already had a basic awareness of policies and protocols at the hospital.

What would your advice be to new students entering the college?

The advice I would give to students entering the college would be to take advantage of any and all learning opportunities you are given in clinical areas, they are invaluable.

Jordan completed her midwifery degree in 2011.
