Respiratory Assessment and Management in Primary Care - 20 credit points

Module Aim 

This module will help you develop your knowledge and skills in the care of patients with common respiratory conditions, e.g. asthma and COPD. You will explore how structural changes to the respiratory system result in impaired respiratory function, and how different therapies are used in treatment of respiratory disorders.  You will also have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills in history-taking and physical assessment of the respiratory system. Throughout the module, you will be encouraged to critically analyse your clinical practice with reference to national guidelines and strategies for the assessment and management of patients with respiratory disease.

Target Group 

This module is aimed at registered health professionals, particularly in primary care, to provide them with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage patients with chronic respiratory conditions.

Credit Rating This is a 20 credit level 6 module. The assessment is a 4000 word case study.

Cost The module fee is £685. Some financial assistance may be available. 

Duration and Dates of study The module consists of 5 study days, which will be held on: 2, 9 & 23 May and 6 &13 June 2019.
