Recognition and Management of Cardiovascular Conditions in Primary Care
This module aims to develop further the knowledge and skills of primary care health professionals, who are involved in the recognition and management of patients with or at high risk of chronic cardiovascular conditions and the promotion of healthy lifestyles in primary care. Access to patients with chronic cardiovascular conditions is a requirement for this module.
This module prepares primary healthcare professionals to work within multi-disciplinary teams and run clinics for the management of patients with chronic cardiovascular conditions and preventing disease onset or progression. Content includes investigation and management of coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, cardiomyopathies & valve disease, hypertension, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure and atrial fibrillation, risk assessment tools, cardiac risk factors promoting healthy lifestyles, assessing readiness to change and motivational interviewing. Throughout the module, you will be encouraged to critically analyse your clinical practice with reference to national guidelines and strategies for the assessment and management of patients with cardiovascular disease.
