Foundations in Physiology and Health Assessment - 40 credit points

Module Aim:

This module provides an introduction to the principles and practices of advanced practice. It is suitable for experienced clinical nurses or other allied health professionals who wish to expand their clinical skills and knowledge. This module will introduce students to the following subjects: anatomy, physiology, history taking, consultation skills, general examination and systems examination.

Target Group:

This module is for experienced health care professionals. It is compulsory for those intending to do the MSc Advanced Practice in Health Care without sufficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology and/or an appropriate first degree.

Students will be individually profiled and advised of the necessity to take this module at the point of application to the MSc APC. It can also be accessed as a stand-alone module or as part of a degree. Applicants must be able to identify an appropriate mentor and have employer support.
