About the GwyddonLe at the Urdd Eisteddfod

Swansea University is delighted to be sponsoring the GwyddonLe science pavilion at the Urdd Eisteddfod again this year.

This “science pavilion” is one of the Eisteddfod’s most popular attractions, drawing thousands of visitors on each of the six days of the festival.

Visitors to the Eisteddfod, held in Cardiff Bay between 27 May and 1 June, will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities from the world of science, technology and digital under the leadership of Swansea University’s scientists. The GwyddonLe attracts thousands of visitors every day and offers an exciting programme of activities, competitions and scientific events for people of all ages.

Among this year's activities, Swansea University will launch its new research vessel, the RV Mary Anning, on Monday 27 May. The vessel will be moored in the Bay, and visitors will have the opportunity to take a tour of it to see the kind of research it can carry out and the type of trips it can make.

In the GwyddonLe, Swansea scientists lead fun-filled family shows and inspiring workshops for all ages. Visitors can take part in hands-on activities involving the opportunity to code robots, ride a hydrogen bike, learn about plastic pollution and its impact on the environment, help professional astronomers to explore the wonders of the universe and much more. Visitors will also have the opportunity to win prizes in daily competitions and discover more about courses and opportunities that are offered by Swansea University.

Other organisations joining the university in providing attractions in the GwyddonLe include: Gweld Gwyddoniaeth, the Institute of Physics in Wales, Finning LTD, IBERS Aberystwyth University and AstroCymru and many more!

Representatives from the University will also be on hand to talk to people wanting to learn more about the courses and opportunities that Swansea University can offer.

We hope to see you there!
