Brief biography:  Very little known of life; may have owned property on Aigina. We have 32 titles of plays; 11 survive. First known play is the Banqueters, which won 2nd prize in 427 (frags only). His Clouds on the new educational practices and beliefs in Athens was produced in 423; it came last and was rewritten into the form we now have. Aristophanes is a character in Plato's Symposium.
