Covid-19 Important Update for Overseas Travel
Winter Degree and Award Congregations 2021
Some of our guests and students may be travelling from overseas to attend the forthcoming congregations; we wanted to make both you and your guests aware of recent changes to rules for international arrivals to the UK in response to the new Omicron variant of Covid-19, which may affect your travel plans and indeed your congregation attendance.
Those arriving from recently updated red list countries will not have enough time to isolate and attend the congregations.
All other international arrivals must now isolate upon arrival and take a day 2 PCR test before day 2 (previously LFD). You will only be able to leave isolation and attend the congregations once you have received your negative test result. Response times for test results have taken as long as 2-3 days, meaning that you may need to isolate for 5 days or more as an international arrival. These could also take longer as demand for the service grows. Welsh government information is available for International arrivals here. Please note that both Welsh Government and UK regulations are being updated frequently and may not reflect the current guidance.
You will also still need a Covid Pass, as detailed in the email sent to you last week.
Whilst we wish to see as many of our graduates and their guests attend the congregations as possible, we do appreciate that these enhanced requirements and indeed the evolving new variant situation may make it difficult for you or your guests to attend. Our congregations are available via live stream if your guests cannot attend and you still wish to do so, then they will still be able to see you graduate via the link available on our graduation pages.
All of our graduates can if they wish defer their ceremony to a later date in early to mid 2022, dates to be confirmed. Please email us at email@example.com, by no later than 12pm on Thursday 2nd December if you do wish to defer to a later date.
The University will work with our event partners to ensure your robe order or pre-paid photographs are still available for your deferred congregation. You may wish to contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly should you require a refund - please click here. We are however unable to refund any costs related to travel plans if you do decide to defer your congregation, or if travelling and subsequent testing delays or results prevent you from attending.
