What is the International Ambassador Scheme?

The International Ambassador Scheme is a voluntary, unpaid programme where you will have the opportunity to assist the Go Global Team with various activities including social media takeovers, blogging/vlogging, desk based tasks and taking part in promotional events.

ALLISON MAURER - EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY, USA

Hi, my name is Allison Maurer and I am from the United States.  My home university is East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where I study Business Administration with a concentration in Management.

This opportunity has allowed me to explore a new country, meet many new people, and grow and diversify my educational experience. 

Being an International Ambassador gives me a chance to be involved at Swansea University, meet and interact with students from around the world, and help to prepare others for similar opportunities.

HENRY PAN - DALIAN UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CHINA

Hi, my name is Henry and I from China. My home University is Dalian University of Foreign Languages where I study translation.

I chose to volunteer to become an Ambassador for I like challenges in life. I treat each opportunity very seriously and I think this is the quality that contemporary college students should have.

I can meet new friends, understand the culture of different countries, and lay the foundation for my spoken English.

CHRISTIAN FIELDS, LANGSTON UNIVERSITY, USA

Roar! All the way from Langston, Oklahoma. I am Christian Fields a Texas born native and I study at Langston University home of the roaring Lions. My major is English with a minor in Computer Science and at Swansea University I am studying English.

I chose to come to Swansea because of the high recommendation that I received from my sister. I also appreciated that many citizens speak English because I like to explore.

I chose to volunteer to learn more about the people of Swansea.The university staff has made me feel so welcomed I want to give back. Therefore, I see being an international ambassador as an act of giving back.

ERIK FRANCOIS - IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY, USA

Hi, I'm Erik Francois and I am from Des Moines, Iowa, United States. I am pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering at my home university Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

I chose to study at Swansea based on recommendations from peers at Iowa State who thoroughly enjoyed their experiences here.

I am excited to volunteer as an Ambassador to help strengthen my own international perspective and help others do the same. Additionally, I want to help facilitate events that encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds and places exchange ideas, experiences and socialise!

KATE MACKENZIE - WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY, CANADA

Hi my name is Kate MacKenzie and I am from Waterloo, Canada, where I study Public Health at Wilfrid Laurier University.

I chose to come to Swansea because I had never travelled to the UK before this, and Wales seemed like a unique option for a semester abroad. I am so glad that I ended up in Swansea - I absolutely love it here.

I chose to volunteer as an Ambassador to get involved on campus and stay connected with other international students. I am so grateful to be here and hope that this program will inspire other students decide to come to Swansea!

GABRIELLE WITT - UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, USA

Hi, I’m Gabrielle from Alexandria, Kentucky, USA. I study aerospace engineering at Swansea and back home at the University of Tennessee.

I always knew I wanted to study abroad during university, and Swansea offered the best alignment to my course as well as countless unique opportunities, ranging from concert band societies and Skills for Life classes, weekend abroad trips, and access to beautiful and historic Welsh landscapes.

I’ve volunteered to become an Ambassador because I believe Swansea University to be a wonderful university that deserves more attention, and I would love for more people to get the chance to experience studies here at Swansea!

Hi, I’m Ni from Shenzhen, China. I am studying Government and International Relations at United International College. I have enrolled in the same program in Swansea University.

I chose to come here since I was told by my English teacher that Swansea is an ideal place for me to learn about western culture and history. Also, its landscape is stunning. I think it might be helpful if I can share my experience with those who would also like to exchange from an overseas institutions.

 

SKYLER TEAGUE - COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY, USA

Hi my name is Skyler Teague and I’m from Colorado in the United States where I go to school at Colorado State University. I currently study Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine with the intention of going to medical school and here at Swansea University I am studying Sports Science.

I chose to study at Swansea because Wales seemed like a unique place to visit with a lot of fun places to explore!

I wanted to volunteer as an ambassador because I wanted to become more involved with Swansea University and to help exchange students that might visit Colorado State University in the future.
