Dissertation
The dissertation module is designed to equip students to undertake a small-scale piece of research or enquiry related to their educational practice. The module will support students to identify an area of their practice that is appropriate for a small-scale piece of research or enquiry, to formulate appropriate research questions, to choose appropriate data collection methods, to collect data and to undertake a critical analysis of the data. This module will prepare students to write up their findings and to present them in various formats. This module builds upon the Advanced Research and Enquiry Skills module which is a pre-requisite for undertaking the dissertation.

Evidence-Informed Practice
This module will explore the different ways in which evidence is presented and published and will examine how different forms of evidence inform professional behaviours and practices. The module will consider the different ways in which evidence is generated, accessed, and explored within different educational settings and contexts. It will examine how education professionals can access and interpret international evidence and how they can engage meaningfully and ethically with different types of evidence. The module will explore the ways in which the use of evidence can inform professional identity and collaborative relationships. It will examine how evidence can both inform practice and assist professionals in reflecting upon their practice.

Teaching with Purpose Identity and Impact
This module supports your development as a reflective, research-informed teacher. You¿ll undertake 120 days of school placement across two blocks: the first split between October¿February, covering two progression steps (ages 3¿11), and the second from March¿June, focusing on a chosen phase (3¿7 or 7¿11). Additional experiences include one week in an alternative educational setting and 10 Practice and Theory (PaT) days co-designed with partner schools. These cover key themes such as curriculum innovation, behaviour, assessment, inclusion, and sustainability. You¿ll engage with immersive technologies and observation classrooms to enhance practice. Assessment is based on progress toward Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), documented in a Professional Learning Portfolio. Support is provided through weekly mentor meetings, joint lesson observations, and PiT stop experiences. Welsh speaking students complete placements in Welsh-language contexts and join cohort-wide PaT Days. These experiences foster deep understanding of learning and effective teaching.

Addysgu gyda Phwrpas: Gwerthoedd, Hunaniaeth ac Effaith / Arfer â Lleoliad Proffesiynol
Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cefnogi eich datblygiad fel athro myfyriol, sydd wedi¿i lywio gan ymchwil. Byddwch yn ymgymryd â 120 diwrnod o leoliad ysgol mewn dau floc: bydd rhan gyntaf y lleoliad yn cael ei gynnal rhwng mis Hydref a mis Chwefror, gan gwmpasu dau gam cynnydd (3¿11 oed), gyda¿r ail yn cael ei gynnal rhwng mis Mawrth a mis Mehefin, gan ganolbwyntio ar gyfnod o¿ch dewis (3¿7 neu 7¿11). Bydd profiadau ychwanegol yn cynnwys wythnos mewn lleoliad addysgol amgen a 10 diwrnod o Ymarfer a Theori (YaTh) wedi'u cynllunio ar y cyd ag ysgolion partner. Bydd y rhain yn rhoi sylw i themâu allweddol fel arloesi o fewn y cwricwlwm, ymddygiad, asesu, cynhwysiant a chynaliadwyedd. Byddwch yn ymgysylltu â thechnolegau trochi ac ystafelloedd dosbarth arsylwi er mwyn gwella¿ch ymarfer. Mae'r asesu'n seiliedig ar gynnydd tuag at Statws Athro Cymwysedig (SAC), ac yn cael ei gofnodi mewn Portffolio Dysgu Proffesiynol. Darperir cefnogaeth ar ffurf cyfarfodydd wythnosol gyda mentor, cyd-arsylwi ar wersi, a phrofiadau PiT stop. Bydd myfyrwyr sy'n siarad Cymraeg yn cwblhau eu lleoliadau mewn cyd-destunau Cymraeg ac yn ymuno â Diwrnodau Ymarfer a Theori i¿r garfan gyfan. Bydd y profiadau hyn yn meithrin dealltwriaeth ddofn o ddysgu ac addysgu effeithiol.

Exploring Pedagogy, Curriculum and Assessment in the Primary School
This module will help you explores how children learn and how effective teaching and assessment practices can support pupil progression across the primary age phase. Drawing on key theories of child development, pedagogy and curriculum design, you will engage in critical reflection on classroom practice and national education policy. The module emphasises inclusive, research-informed approaches to learning and teaching, aligned with the Curriculum for Wales and the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership. Through university sessions delivered by university staff, you will investigate what makes great teaching and how to plan for pupil progress in diverse and dynamic classroom settings.

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn eich helpu i archwilio sut mae plant yn dysgu a sut mae arferion addysgu ac asesu effeithiol yn gallu cynorthwyo cynnydd disgyblion ar draws y cyfnod oedran cynradd. Gan ddefnyddio damcaniaethau allweddol o ddatblygiad plant, addysgeg a chynllunio'r cwricwlwm, byddwch yn myfyrio'n feirniadol ar ymarfer yn yr ystafell ddosbarth a pholisi addysg cenedlaethol. Mae'r modiwl yn pwysleisio dulliau cynhwysol sy'n seiliedig ar waith ymchwil o ddysgu ac addysgu, sy'n cyd-fynd â'r Cwricwlwm i Gymru a'r Safonau Proffesiynol ar gyfer Addysgu ac Arweinyddiaeth. Trwy sesiynau prifysgol a gyflwynir gan staff y brifysgol, byddwch yn ymchwilio i nodweddion addysgu gwych a sut i gynllunio ar gyfer cynnydd disgyblion mewn lleoliadau dosbarth amrywiol a dynamig.

Researching for Impact: Enquiry and Reflection in Primary Education
As a student teacher on this programme, you are not just learning how to teach, you are learning how to think, question, and grow as a professional. This compulsory module is designed to support you in becoming a research-informed, reflective practitioner, in line with the vision of the Swansea University Schools¿ Partnership.
Throughout the module, you will explore how educational research and reflective practice can shape your teaching. You will build your confidence in reading and understanding research, and you will develop the skills to explore and reflect critically on your own practice, which will serve you throughout your career.
You will have the opportunity to choose an area of focus that interests you within your chosen age phase and explore it in depth. By reviewing existing research and planning a small-scale enquiry into your own practice, you will begin to see how research can directly inform and improve what you do in the classroom. This is about making real, thoughtful changes that benefit your pupils.
As part of the module, you will also share your findings with your peers and colleagues across the Partnership. You will be contributing to a wider professional conversation, one that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
By the end of the module, you will not only have developed your research literacy and reflective skills, but you will also be better equipped to respond creatively and confidently to the diverse needs of your learners.

Mae'r modiwl gorfodol hwn wedi'i gynllunio i'ch cefnogi i ddod yn ymarferydd myfyriol sy'n cael ei lywio gan ymchwil, yn unol â gweledigaeth Partneriaeth Ysgolion Prifysgol Abertawe.
Trwy gydol y modiwl, byddwch yn archwilio sut y gall ymchwil addysgol ac ymarfer myfyriol lywio eich addysgu. Byddwch yn magu hyder wrth ddarllen a deall ymchwil, a byddwch yn datblygu'r sgiliau i archwilio a myfyrio'n feirniadol ar eich ymarfer eich hun, a fydd yn ddefnyddiol i chi trwy gydol eich gyrfa.
