About

Martyn Quigley is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Swansea University. Prior to this, Martyn worked at the University of Nottingham where he also undertook an ESRC funded PhD in Psychology with Professor Mark Haselgrove. Before the PhD Martyn spent time working at the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Martyn’s research has primarily focused on factors which influence learning and behaviour and how these can be explained by associative theories of learning. He is interested in both theoretical and applied research and has examined the impact of factors such as attention, avoidance, anxiety and schizotypy on learning and behaviour.

Martyn is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a research interest in Higher Education (HE) pedagogy including student engagement, employability and wellbeing, with a particular focus on how individual differences, such as personality traits, can explain variation in students’ HE experiences.
