Dr Martin Porcheron is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and member of FIT Lab. His research is in the areas of human-computer interaction and computer-supported cooperative work, his recent research focuses on the user experience of interactive “AI” systems—from voice interfaces through to robot interfaces. He primarily adopts human-centred design approaches including ethnography, user studies, and focus groups to study and inform the design of novel technologies.

His work has been published in leading HCI venues including ACM CHI and CSCW. He was a Papers Chair for the inaugural Conversational User Interfaces (CUI) conference and Programme Chair for the 2021 CUI conference, and continues to serve on the conference steering committee. In 2019, he co-organised of the Halfway to the Future symposium, which involved over 180 attendees exploring the past, present and future of HCI work.

Prior to joining Swansea University, Martin was a Research Fellow in Mixed Reality Laboroatory at the University of Nottingham.
