We are Community@CampusLife, Swansea University, working with you to create cohesive and supportive communities. Our team includes Mandy Williams (Community Manager), James Slattery, (Community Liaison Officer) and Elinor Thomas (Community Liaison Assistant).
This first edition of a termly newsletter, brings you news and key dates of events in and around the community.
Our first community event will be on Wednesday 29th May 2019 at Brynmill Community Centre between 11am -1pm. It is a family event during half term with activities for children, refreshments, information on some University services that can be accessed by community members and the opportunity to chat with ourselves and our partners, South Wales Police, Swansea Council and Trinity St David. We hope you will join us.
Discovery is a University based charity with around 600 volunteers involved in over 30 volunteering projects across Swansea. Discovery offers a broad range of exciting opportunities in student led activities in the community leading to increased mutual understand and equality. These range from monthly beach cleans, youth clubs, gardening, decorating, buddied reading session, age exchange projects and so much more. EID in the Park
The 6th May sees the start of Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims prior to the Festival of Eid. Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam and holds important religious significance for Muslims. As a University we have a very large number of Muslim students from all over the World and consider this to be an important part of the University’s calendar of events. As a celebration of Eid there a family Fun Eid in the Park event on Sunday 9 June in Singleton Park. Come and join us.

Arrivals and Welcome Week
Hello again, and welcome to the second edition of our termly newsletter – Community and Campus Life. During the next few weeks the Community Liaison Team will be working closely with South Wales Police and Swansea Council at this busy time around Arrivals and Welcome Week. We will be out and about in the community handing out safety leaflets and information packs, please do feel free to chat to us if you see us; we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

James Slattery is our Community Liaison Officer and your dedicated point of contact for community related matters. He works with students and residents living in communities across Swansea. The Community Liaison Officer role has evolved from the ongoing partnership work of Swansea University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, The City & County of Swansea, South Wales Police and Swansea University Student Union.
Please welcome our new Student Union President: Grace Hannaford
Grace was a Geography student and member of the Netball club before becoming the Students' Union's Welfare Officer last year. This year, she's the Swansea University Student Union President and has a lot of new ideas to bring students and the local community together - building upon the work she's already undertaken.
She's passionate about helping others and always happy to answer any questions.
