CEPSAM hosts international online conference
Swansea University research group CEPSAM (Centre for the Comparative Study of Portugal, Spain and the Americas) has hosted a three-day international online conference entitled 'Green Hispanisms’.
The theme of the environment brought together scholars from across disciplines including literature, history, media, politics, geography, and life sciences. Panel topics included Visual Cultures, Historical Perspectives, Eco-Literature, and Flora and Fauna.
CEPSAM Director Dr Lloyd Davies said: “While scholars from the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America and Lusophone Africa have been involved for several years in intercontinental collaboration and dialogue on issues connected to ecocriticism, momentum in this area has grown recently: contemporary scholars are rewriting ecological theory as they apply it to new contexts, thereby enriching multicultural, transnational, and interdisciplinary debates about literature, art, and the future of the planet.”
Dr Davies said the participation of the Swansea Environmental Forum (City and County of Swansea) had enhanced discussions by providing details of local priorities and identifying pathways for university-community collaboration.
