Academic and Professional Development

Academic and professional development is an integral part of the student experience at Swansea University. The Graduate Centre offers its own comprehensive skills and training package consisting of four main strands:

  • Skills and Training Workshops - topics include research interviews, doctoral/postdoctoral funding, 'selling' your project, archival research and publishing
  • Module auditing - the option to audit a range of Master's modules in order to enhance your knowledge of theoretical/methodological approaches
  • Research allowance - dedicated conference and research support funding
  • Annual Arts and Humanities Conference - an opportunity to showcase your research in a supportive academic environment.

Postgraduate Research Office

The Graduate Centre's comprehensive training package complements the provision offered by the Postgraduate Research Office, who provide access to interdisciplinary training courses and research induction events throughout the academic year.

You can also opt to participate in the Swansea Employability Award (SEA) in order to enhance your career prospects following completion of your chosen postgraduate programme.

Research Allowance

To support the diverse range of research activities carried out by our students, the Arts & Humanities Graduate Centre provides an allowance for conference participation and research trips to all students enrolled on Arts and Humanities postgraduate programmes
