'Landscape and Poetry' by Professor Ben Bollig

The Centre for the Comparative Study of Portugal, Spain and the Americas (CEPSAM) invites you to join a new seminar series organised by current postgraduate students at Swansea University. This will be the third session in this seminar series:

'Landscape and Poetry in Gerardo ‘Papu’ Curotto and Andi Nachon’s Esteros' by Professor Ben Bollig (St Catherine's College, University of Oxford).

Tuesday 11 May 2021, 5 pm. Click here to register for the event via Eventbrite. Zoom joining instructions will be emailed to registered attendees prior to each event.

This talk looks at the critically acclaimed Argentine film Esteros (2016), in the context of its screenwriter, Andi Nachon’s work as a poet, with reference to both the rise of LGBTQIA+ themed filmmaking in Argentina and growing struggles around farming methods in the Esteros wetlands, and elsewhere, in that country. It forms part of a wider investigation into the relationship between poetry and film, as studied in Bollig’s forthcoming book Moving Verses: Poetry on Screen in Argentine Cinema (Liverpool UP).

All welcome!
Coordination: CEPSAM PGR Committee (cepsam.pgrevents@swansea.ac.uk)

Coming up: Monday 17 May, 5 pm. 'Appropriation and resignification of urban space by Mapuche associations in Santiago de Chile' by Dr Dana Brablecova (Bangor University).
