What is ResNet?

The Residents’ Network is a joint venture between Residential services and the Students’ Union. Its aim is to ensure that each student living in Residences can benefit from the best student experience possible at Swansea University by putting on events and activities, running campaigns and providing legacy items.

ResNet is active throughout the academic year and the Residential Officers (ROs) will provide you with all the information you need about the Students’ Union events, Student Resident news and any up and coming campaigns for both the Union and the residential areas.

Residents Surgeries

Are your flatmates getting you down or do you have issues with your room?

Your ResNet Coordinator runs weekly surgeries for you to call in for a chat about things.

  • Student Village residents: Monday 2PM - 3PM in Village Reception.
  • Singleton Park residents: Tuesday 2PM - 3PM in Preseli Reception.
  • Bay Campus residents: Wednesday 3PM - 4PM in the clock tower reception.

ResNet Activities

We regularly put on events at the Students’ Union venues and one in particular which we’re sure you’ll enjoy is Fresh and Free. This is where we get each and every resident to the Freshers’ Marquee and get you to represent your halls at the biggest party in Swansea! We arrange a photo booth to capture your moments, and put on buses to get you there and back safely.

We host trips to areas such as the wonderful Gower peninsula, Ikea, and Christmas Shopping in Cardiff. We’ve previously arranged surfing lessons, beach sports days at 360 and ice skating at Waterfront Winterland. We put on a Chill Out area at the Summer Ball and buses to major events throughout the year.

Over the past few years, ResNet has provided incredible Legacy Items such as TVs, BBQ areas, a basketball and football court, wildflower areas, and refurbishment of the Singleton common room.

Your Residence, Your Experience

So how can you get involved and change your residence for the better? How can you get Legacy Items into your area? It’s easy! Just make your voice heard for your halls! Update your Residential Officer on problems in your area, ask them how you can get involved and see what activities they’re working on at the moment.

Add your Residential Officer on Facebook via the link below for up to date information and get involved in all the activities they have on offer.

The Residents’ Network is your opportunity to make the most of your first year at University – we loved ours so much, now it’s our job to make sure you do too!
