3. Time Limits

Taught modules shall be completed as prescribed by the relevant College and assessment completed by the dates set by Colleges. The full degree programme shall be completed within the following periods from the date of the initial registration:

Mode of Study
Full-time candidates following not less than 12 months, not more than 2 years*
Part-time equivalent not less than 24 months, not more than 5 years

Please read the Guidance on Time Limits for more information.

Candidates must normally complete Part One studies by the following deadlines unless alternative times are approved for a given programme by the Academic Regulations and Cases Board:

1 year full-time candidates: end of the 9th month or, if supplementary examinations are taken, by 12th month of candidature.

Part-time candidates: end of the 9th or 12th month of the second or third year of candidature

A candidate who fails to complete Part One within the period indicated may not proceed to Part Two of the programme unless a formally authorised extension to the period for completion of Part One has been agreed. Without an authorised extension, the candidate is eligible only for the appropriate exit qualification.  It should be noted that such an extension will not automatically extend the period of study for the entire programme.
