In addition, some students choose to study BA Media and Communication, but follow certain modules through the medium of Welsh. Check the booklet 'Undergraduate Welsh medium modules' to see what is available.
In the first and second years you can choose from a variety of modules and take advantage of opportunities for work experience, and in the third year you can specialize in an area of your choice, focusing on your strengths and interests. The curriculum was developed in consultation with a panel of industry representatives to ensure that the provision is up-to-date and reflects the requirements of the world of work. You will therefore graduate as a confident individual who is ready for the labour market, possessing a range of skills and a portfolio of work to show to a potential employer.
According to Creative Skillset, the sector's Skills Council, the opportunities for work in the creative industries are expected to increase by 45% between 2012 and 2022. There are areas such as broadcasting, the press and marketing that will continue to provide exciting careers for graduates, but now there are employers that welcome individuals with media skills, such as creating websites and managing an online profile. This is a good time, therefore, to consider a degree in media and public relations.
