Dr Benjamin Simpson served alongside Edward Tuite Dalton in the British-India Army and took the majority of the pictures that were turned into lithographs by Dr George Wallich. Simpson was a keen photographer and - as this website extract shows - he is highly regarded in the Ethnographic photography world. Tosco Peppe, another contributor to the photographs in Descriptive Ethnology of Bengal is also mentioned here.
