Swansea University - International Students

International Students

Swansea University welcomes applications from International Students, and has a thriving international community on both its undergraduate and postgraduate courses

Unfortunately, International Students are not eligible for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Instead, you should contact your home government for information on any funding that may be available to you as a student with a disability or medical condition.

The Disability Office strongly advises International Students to contact us before making a formal application to the University. This will give you time to fully explore and understand the support you will need and the extent to which we can provide it. We will be able to discuss the various support options with you, and give you a realistic idea of any costs.

Whilst Swansea University will make every reasonable effort to provide support and to help you make best use of it, budgetary and other constraints may make it impossible for us to guarantee that all services will be available to all students at all times without restriction.

Even if you are unable to secure any additional funding to cover the costs of support for your disability or medical condition, the Disability Office will be able to provide the following types of support services:

  • Support from the Disability Caseworkers
  • Disability Caseworker liaison with teaching departments about provision of course materials/handouts in appropriate formats
  • Enlarged or brailed exam papers wherever possible
  • Ability to tape-record lectures and seminars
  • Limited loans of equipment e.g. Dictaphones
  • Use of computer, reader or scribe in exams
  • Range of special services within the Library
