Why did you choose Swansea University?
I was impressed with the friendly and helpful atmosphere at the open day, and the self-contained campus has all the necessary amenities as well as being really close to the beach! There is an extensive range of sporting facilities; the course provided areas of sport science that I was interested in, with everyone I met being very supportive and welcoming.
What do you like about your course?
There is a wide variety of topics covered which gives you an insight of all areas of Sport Science allowing you to specialise in a particular area in your final year. You are also able to gain hands on experience in the laboratories to support the theory taught in lectures. The lecturers are all very helpful and approachable.
What's the best thing about being a student in Swansea?
Student life is brilliant in Swansea; there is a wide variety of societies and sports to participate in. Within sports clubs there are teams for everyone from those wanting to participate socially or compete for the University; it is a brilliant way to make friends. I am part of the Swansea University Swimming Club and really enjoy the social aspects of being in the club as well as the training! Being so close to the Gower Peninsula is a real bonus; we often go down to the beach as it is the perfect way to relax in between studying, and a great way to enjoy yourself and make the most of Swansea.
What advice you would give potential future students?
Swansea University is a diverse and friendly place to be with all staff and current students providing support for new students to ensure they have the best possible university experience. Before coming to university make sure you are happy with the course content and that it suits your interests as I have found this definitely helps with motivation to study independently, also try and view as many accommodation options as you can and decide what's best for you.
