Course Overview

Our BSc Marketing provides a solid grounding in marketing principles and key management disciplines. This programme combines marketing strategy and several contemporary topics of consumer behaviour, marketing research, international marketing and digital marketing, equipping you to think critically about marketing and helping you make informed strategic decisions. It is perfect for those wanting to pursue a dynamic and successful career in marketing.

Description

In year one of our BSc Marketing programme you develop a core foundation in business management and marketing, studying a range of business related topics including accounting, finance, economics, operations, managing people and marketing. Year two allows you to specialise in marketing specific modules whilst also allowing you to explore elective modules from any of the School’s subject catalogues, including accounting/finance, business and economics modules.

The compulsory marketing specific module requirement in year three accounts for 60 credits of study (including a 30 credit dissertation). You will have the freedom to choose the remaining 60 credits of elective modules from any of the School’s subject catalogues.

Course structure and content has been developed in line with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Certificate in Professional Marketing.

Offers for programmes in the School of Management are usually within the range of ‘ABB-BBB’ or equivalent.

All applications are considered on an individual basis, with GCSE grades, AS Level subjects and grades, work experience, references and personal statement taken into account.

Variable offers are made dependent on subjects studied.

No A-level in Business, Economics, Maths or Accounting/Finance is required. We do not consider General Studies as an A-level subject for offer purposes. Students may combine A-levels with other qualifications below. GCSE Maths and English minimum C grade is also required.

International Baccalaureate 

The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) IB of 32-33 or higher.

BTEC (18-unit)

The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) BTEC results of DDM or better.

English Language

Non-native English speakers must achieve 6.0 overall with no component less than 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent tests.

For students who fall short of only the English language requirement we offer a range of pre-sessional training courses that can be taken before starting their degree course. Further details can be found here.

Tuition Fees

Annual tuition fees for entry in the academic year 2018/19 are as follows:

UK/EU International
BSc (Hons) Full-time £9,000 £15,000

Fees for full time Undergraduate UK/EU students may be increased in subsequent years of study by an inflationary amount determined by Welsh Government.

Fees for full time Undergraduate International students will increase by 3% for each subsequent year of study.

Additional Costs

Recommended textbooks for this course are available in the library. All software needed for the course is available on the School of Management network, for use within our PC rooms at Swansea University.

Free wireless internet access is available across the whole of the University campus and halls of residence.

Scholarships

Swansea University offers a range of scholarships to help fund your studies, including: 

Excellence Scholarship - awarded to students achieving AAA or above at A-Level (or equivalent) - £3000 over 2 years. 

Merit Scholarship - awarded to students achieving AAB at A-Level (or equivalent - £2000 over 2 years.

Developing Futures Scholarship - The School of Management also offers the Developing Futures Scholarship package, which encourages students to develop a number of professional skills whilst working with the School throughout the academic year.

  • Undergraduate scholarship of £2000 towards tuition fees. Available to non-EU (International) students holding an offer to study at the School of Management. 
  • Postgraduate scholarship of £3000 towards tuition fees. Available to all UK/EU and International students holding an offer to study at the School of Management.

Location and Facilities

The Bay Campus is situated in an outstanding location on the eastern approach into Swansea, with direct access onto the beach and its own seafront promenade. The campus features modern and bright student accommodation, including standard, premium, twin and wheelchair accessible rooms.

Bay Campus buildings and resources include:

  • Central support services for students housed within the Tower Information Centre.
  • State of the art library and resource centre.
  • Students’ Union.
  • The Great Hall – incorporating the Stanley Clarke Auditorium, lecture theatres and a cafe offering magnificent views across Swansea Bay.
