Course Overview

Our BSc Economics and Finance programme will develop your understanding of modern economics and its application within the financial industry. You will also build your analytical and problem-solving capabilities, quantitative and data analysis techniques and develop your written and oral communication skills. As you progress to the final stages of undergraduate studies, you will have the opportunity to advance your specialist knowledge with a view to proceeding to postgraduate studies, or pursuing a career in a broad range of economic and financial areas of industry. Our flexible programmes include a choice of optional modules in years 2 and 3, providing opportunities to pursue specialist topics in Economics or gain further experience in related Business, Accounting and Finance disciplines.

Description

All of our undergraduate programmes combine a range of compulsory modules that you must study in you first year with us before giving you significant freedom to pick optional modules  in later years to allow you to focus in on your own interests and specialisation.

Entry Requirements

A-level Qualification

The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) A-Level grades of ‘ABB-BBB’ or better.   No A-level in Business, Economics, Maths or Accounting/Finance is required. We do not consider General Studies as an A-level subject for offer purposes. Students may combine A-levels with other qualifications below.  GCSE Maths and English minimum C grade is also required. 

International Baccalaureate 

The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) IB of 32-33 or higher.

BTEC (18-unit)

The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) BTEC results of DDM or better.

English Language

Non-native English speakers must achieve 6.0 overall with no component less than 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent tests.

Tuition Fees

Annual tuition fees for entry in the academic year 2018/19 are as follows:

UK/EU International
BSc (Hons) Full-time £9,000 £15,000

Fees for full time Undergraduate UK/EU students may be increased in subsequent years of study by an inflationary amount determined by Welsh Government.

Fees for full time Undergraduate International students will increase by 3% for each subsequent year of study.

Recommended textbooks for this course are available in the library. All software needed for the course is available on the School of Management network, for use within our PC rooms at Swansea University.

Excellence Scholarship - awarded to students achieving AAA or above at A-Level (or equivalent) - £3000 over 2 years.
