Students on the Foundation Geography pathway will study introductory physical and human geography modules, along with broader introductory natural science modules such as ‘Environmental Science’ and ‘Laboratory Skills’. An introduction to data handling and mathematics skills for natural scientists are also an essential part of the Foundation Geography Programme. Students are assigned a personal and academic tutor and will participate in small-group tutorial sessions throughout the programme. The tutorial programme covers key study skills training, such as essay writing, alongside small-group sessions on current themes in geographical research.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, students progress into one of the BSc or BA Geography schemes.
