This new programme offers overseas nurses experience of working in a UK healthcare setting and the opportunity to study in the vibrant city of Swansea. Qualifications at point of entry will determine whether students study for 12 or 18 months.

  • Professional Nursing Issues
  • Evidence Based Practice
  • Introduction to Clinical Leadership
  • Work Based Learning*

And optional modules in:

  • Infection control
  • Health Promotion

*the work based learning module will include 20 days clinical placement

Who should take this programme?

The Bachelor of Science Professional Nursing Studies is being offered to Registered Nurses who have trained outside of the United Kingdom (UK)

Note: Graduates in Professional Nursing Studies may progress to MSc Health Care Management, MSc Nursing, MSc Public Health and Health Promotion and MSc Social Research Methods.

Standard Entry requirements

To apply you must:

  • Be a registered nurse in your country of origin or have successfully completed a nursing HND or degree in your country of origin with eligibility to register as a nurse
  • Be eligible to study at level 3- some qualifications may not be at the same academic level as UK qualifications therefore all applications will be judged on an individual basis
  • Have a IELTS(International English Language Testing System) score of 6.0 average with a minimum of 5.5 in any component
  • Meet the UKBA visa requirements 
  • Have a satisfactory police check / Criminal Records Bureau check
  • Pass the College Occupational Health medical assessment

Students may be offered additional language modules to help them improve their English written and oral ability.
